Grading
To the student who emailed me to tell me that he didn't think it was fair to grade his assignment but that he should get full credit for turning in the assignment, I thank you tremendously for helping me run my class. I don't know what I was thinking grading based on the extent to which students comprehend the material. From now on, I will grade purely on your effort. All students who show up for class will receive an A. If you don't come to class but wanted to come, you will also get an A. If you didn't think it was fair for me to expect you to come to class, please send me an email telling me how I can make the course easier for you. For the remainder of the semester, we will no longer cover and test accounting concepts but instead will gather around to sing Kumbaya.

Sometimes, my students insist they should get extra credit for handing an assignment in early. I tell them "You don't get extra credit for doing your job." I guess this line of thinking doesn't vary much from 12 to 21.
